This is my graduation project which shows a 16th century French Baroque bedroom. The environment depicts the abduction of Persephone, an ancient story from Greek mythology.
My main focus with this project was to tell a story through textures and efficiently create baroque ornaments. I have explored a wide range of techniques. While in the end it proved most efficient to create simple geometry and combine procedural and painted heightmaps within Substance Designer. You can find a tutorial about this pipeline in my portfolio.
In the myth Persephone represents the growth of vegetation. I wanted to represent this with the blooming flowers in the ornaments. When she was abducted by Hades, the vegetation on earth started to wither. This meant the coming of winter and therefore the withering of the flowers.
The dead leaves on the floor are from the Megascans library. All other assets were made by me. Many thanks to the people who provided me with feedback and support.
